Play CupQuest
The classic Shell Game. Track the ball, challenge yourself, and collect virtual coins!
About CupQuest
CupQuest is our take on the classic cup-shuffle game, also known as the shell game or thimblerig. The concept is ancient — street performers in ancient Greece and Rome entertained crowds by hiding objects under cups and challenging spectators to track them through shuffles. Today, it remains one of the purest tests of visual focus and concentration. Unlike games of chance, the cup shuffle tests a specific mental skill: sustained visual tracking under motion.
The game offers two modes that change both difficulty and coin multiplier. Hard Challenge uses one ball under three cups — track correctly and your coins multiply by 3. Easy Challenge uses two balls under three cups, giving you a 2-in-3 success rate that multiplies your coins by 1.5. The key to improving is learning to track individual cup trajectories rather than following the ball itself. Watch for distinctive features — a cup's rotation pattern or the way it slides — and maintain focus on that single cup throughout the shuffle. With practice, you can significantly improve your accuracy.
The shell game has a fascinating (and sometimes notorious) history. In the 19th century, it became a popular street hustle — performers used sleight of hand to cheat players who thought they could track the ball. This deceptive history has made the shell game a symbol of street-corner trickery in popular culture. Our online version is completely fair: the ball's position is tracked by the game engine with no sleight of hand. Every shuffle is computed algorithmically — where the ball starts is exactly where it ends, determined purely by the sequence of cup swaps. This makes our version a genuine test of visual skill rather than a rigged game.
All coins in CupQuest are virtual and free-to-play. You start with 1,000 coins and can reset your balance at any time. There is no real money involved — the game is purely a casual skill challenge designed to test your concentration and hand-eye tracking. Coins serve only as a fun scoring mechanism to track your progress and challenge yourself to improve.

Strategy: lock one cup, ignore the ball
Before PLAY, pick the cup you will follow — left, middle, or right — and keep your eyes on that silhouette through every swap. The ball is a small highlight that disappears under motion; the cup is a large rectangle your visual system can track. If that cup was empty at the reveal, you already know not to tap it at the end. If it held the ball, tap it. That is cup-locking.
Easy hides two balls, so two of three cups are winners and the shuffle is still worth watching. Hard hides one ball and pays 3× coins. Work Easy until you are honestly above about 70% over 20 rounds, then switch. Virtual coins are a score, not a wallet — reset to 1,000 whenever the number stops meaning anything. Street shell games cheat with palming; this shuffle is a computed swap list, so misses are tracking errors, not a hidden third hand.
Test your focus with CupQuest. Choose your challenge level, gather virtual coins, follow the shuffle, and pick the winning cup to multiply your score.
How to Play CupQuest Online
CupQuest is a digital version of the classic shell game. Three cups shuffle on screen — one hides a ball. Watch closely, track the movement, and pick the winning cup when the shuffle stops. It tests visual tracking and sustained concentration.
- Choose your challenge: Hard uses 1 ball under 3 cups (tougher tracking, 3x coin multiplier). Easy uses 2 balls under 3 cups (67% win chance, 1.5x coin multiplier).
- Choose your virtual coin play amount using the controls. You start with 1,000 free coins — there is no real money involved.
- Click PLAY to reveal the ball positions, then watch the cups shuffle through 12-17 rapid position swaps.
- Keep your eyes locked on your target cup through the shuffle. Use the cup-locking technique: pick one cup and track it, rather than following the ball.
- When the cups stop, tap the cup you believe hides the ball. A correct pick adds coins to your balance; a miss reduces your balance.
